Death toll of people in Turkey earthquake rises to 376: interior minister

The death toll now has risen to more than 376 from the powerful earthquake in southeast Turkey, Turkish Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin told local media on Monday.

Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay earlier mentioned the death toll as 376 and the number of the injured at some 1,310. There was growing concern for tens of thousands of people forced to spend the night outside in near-freezing temperatures in the mountainous Van region, because their damaged homes were shaken by a succession of aftershocks.

Moreover 7.2 magnitude earthquake Sunday had the most serious effect in Ercis, a city of about 75,000 people, where an estimated 80 buildings should collapsed.Tents, distributed blankets and food in areas affected by the earthquake covering all the affected area Monday.
