Earthquake shakes Indonesia


An earthquake of 6.6-magnitude hit the northern part of Indonesia’s Sumatra island early Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said Monday.

The quake struck at 12:55 am (1755 GMT Monday) at a depth of 30 miles, USGS pointed out—with its epicenter about 250 miles southeast of Banda Aceh.

The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center incdicated that the quake was too far inland to generate a tsunami.
