Oldest university in Berlin announced it is collaborating with Google and three German players to start a research institute. Humboldt University, said the Institute for Independent Internet and Society will open in October 2011 and examines the evolution of the Internet and its impact on society, science, politics and the Institute will economy.
The emphasis on innovation, the Internet and media policy, philosophy and constitutional rights, the Humboldt told. Google will fund the institute (euro) 4.5 million ($ 6,410,000) for the first three years. After that, the team is looking for other sponsors.The Berlin University of Arts, Social Science Research Center Berlin and Hamburg, Hans-Bredow-Institut is also involved in the project.
