Some months before, Rodney King was once again the center of focus as the world checked back in on the man whose videotaped beating by police sparked one of the nation’s worst race riots. Police confiscated marijuana plants including a wood-handled pitchfork and hoe as evidence from the home of Rodney King, while officials try to determine as to how he died.
In this regard, officials disclosed that there were no “outward signs” of alcohol or drug use that may have caused King to fall into the pool Sunday morning. King had left Los Angeles behind, moving an hour east to a home where neighbors would often hear him splashing in the pool late at night.
In this context, DeAnda disclosed that although the physical and emotional scars from the more than 50 baton blows remained, yet King struck an upbeat note on his life. Kelley is “not a great swimmer,” explaining why she did not jump in. Police arrived moments later and an officer jumped in the pool and pulled King’s body onto the deck.
Meanwhile, investigators are enquiring by a next-door neighbor who said that she heard the 47-year-old King in his backyard sobbing uncontrollably shortly before a splash.
