You know grown-up rock chick Lulu says she is 64, single – and loving it. But she is happy to be still on her own, years after the “extremely painful” break–up of her marriage to hairdresser John Frieda in 1991.
Moreover the Glasgow–born singer, who found fame at 15 with chart hit Shout, declares she does not expect to wed again.
“I really don’t see the point at my age,” she says. “But If you want to live together, that’s fine. I’m perfectly happy on my own.”
Furthermore asked if she feels lonely, she replies: “It’s human to have those feelings. I think everyone feels lonely, but I was lonely in my marriage. I’m certainly not overwhelmed by feelings of loneliness now.”
She adds: “Dating doesn’t seem the kind of thing I would do. I just don’t feel the need to be attached to anyone. I really do like being single – maybe a wee bit too much!”
And also Lulu stars on the cover of the latest issue of Good Housekeeping and shows off her figure in a photoshoot inside, where she also gives style tips.
However, she appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2011 but there was no spark between her and her professional partner, Brendan Cole, she reveals.
“I worked with someone with whom I wasn’t really compatible, so that was very hard,” she says. ‘You have to step back and laugh at yourself. I think that attitude saved me when I was voted out.’ [ express.co.uk ]
