Two women charged of using a story regarding a made-up baby’s funeral to solicit money appeared Thursday in a Modesto courthouse for a hearing in their criminal case, authorit.
An attorney for suspects Tiffany Lyon, 27, of Modesto and Chasity Doll, 20, of Sun City, asked the judge to postpone the hearing to allow the women some time to discuss a possible plea agreement with the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, Assistant District Attorney Carol Shipley pointed out Thursday.
The judge gave the request and another hearing date for September 9, she said. Both women pleaded not guilty July 18 to deceive and plot points to a charge of cheating by false pretenses and one count of misdemeanor giving a false name to a peace officer, said Shipley. They arrested women on the 18th June in Modesto bail.Police were released, said an official.
